Description
1908 was a pivotal year for the Burton family—General Motors was founded, Captain Theodore Burton and his son Fred began selling cars at their general store in Millsboro, Delaware, and Fred’s son Irwin G. Burton, the company’s namesake, was born. While most people still relied on horse and carriage, the Burtons embraced the future of transportation. After World War II, i.g. Burton modernized the business, and by the 1960s, his son David expanded into European luxury brands like Mercedes-Benz and BMW. Today, Charlie Burton leads the fifth generation, guiding the company through the tech-driven era with a focus on people, innovation, and customer service. From selling Maxwells to offering nearly every vehicle brand through their used departments, i.g. Burton has adapted with the times while staying true to its roots. The company also operates the nation’s oldest Blue Bird Bus Center and is a proud recipient of the N.A.D.A. Century Award. Through over a century of change, one thing remains the same: i.g. Burton. Since 1908. You can count on us.
