Description
The National Cord Blood Program (NCBP), part of New York Blood Center Enterprises, is the world's first and largest public cord blood bank (est. 1992), providing transplantable hematopoietic progenitor cells for patients without matched bone marrow donors. NCBP collects, processes, and cryopreserves cord blood units, testing them for cell count, HLA type, and infectious diseases. Once matched, NCBP ships frozen units in specialized containers to transplant centers. Their FDA-licensed product, HEMACORD®, also undergoes this careful shipping process.
